In this 3-hour program, the instructors review the key tax and form changes in Corporate Taxprep 2023 v.2 and discuss recent changes to tax legislation and e-services that impact your corporate tax filings. We will also highlight proposed legislative changes.

During the program, the instructors discuss the most significant tax, and form changes included in Corporate Taxprep 2023 version 2.0 which is tentatively scheduled for release on December 5, 2023. The instructors also review the status of tax legislation changes, including changes to mandatory electronic filing and electronic payments and the most recent tax legislative proposals released by Finance Canada.

This session will benefit both new and current users of Corporate Taxprep and iFirm Taxprep T2.  All attendees will receive a PDF of the slides used during the presentation.   



  • Tax and Form changes (Federal and Provincial)
  • New requirements for mandatory EFILE of T2 returns, electronic filing of information returns and electronic payments
  • “Digit by default” for business correspondence
  • Filing requirements for nominee corporations
  • The new mandatory disclosure rules
  • Status of tabled legislation, proposed legislation, and budget proposals
  • Draft legislation from the 2023 federal budget, including, but not limited to:
    • Excessive interest and financing expense limitation (EIFEL) rules
    • Investment tax credits for carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) and clean technologies
    • Canada’s domestic digital services tax
    • Global minimum tax
    • Amendments to the stock option rules, the replacement property rules, and the eligible dividend designation rules.
  • CEBA Loan Forgiveness and the Extended Deadline for Repayment
  • Expiry of the Immediate Expensing Rules
  • Selling of a Business to Family Members and the new Restrictive Rules
  • Increases to Prescribed Interest Rates

Questions and Comments will be addressed throughout the session via a Q&A text panel.

Sue Deakin, CPA, CA, MAcc

Sue is a Professor of Accounting, specializing in tax and auditing, in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.  She earned her undergraduate degree and MAcc from the University of Waterloo and her CPA designation thereafter.  She completed her co-op education with Arthur Andersen & Co in Toronto and continued to work at AA& Co. in Taxation upon graduation.  She then worked for 15 years as VP Finance in a property management company before pursuing a teaching career. 

Sue likes to keep active with activities such as golf, running, and workouts.  She enjoys time with family and friends – especially at the family cottage on Lake Huron.
